Kick off the summer with an epic adventure mountain biking along the best back trails of Maine from the Canadian border to Acadia National Park. Activities include mountain biking, whitewater kayaking and canoeing, swimming, rock climbing, orienteering, and other camp game and adventures.

This trip is designed for anyone looking for a lifechanging adventure. The fun is in the accomplishment of an incredible challenge and doing it with some amazing new friends. It is designed for anyone who is physically fit to participate in typical outdoor activities and sports. They should have some general knowledge about shifting gears and be proficient riding a bike and using their breaks. This program is not designed for expert mountain biking. It is more of a marathon adventure with fun people, spectacular scenery, and  exciting camp adventures.

For an additional $375 we can provide you with a brand new bike shop quality mountain bike to take home with you at the end of the adventure. This is a significant discount from the price you would pay at a bike shop (50% off). We highly recommend this option for those who do not have their own mountain bike. If you are just getting into mountain biking or you are looking to move up to a bike shop quality bike this may be a good option for you.***

XC Challenge Itinerary

Day 1: "Orientation and Travel Adventure in to the scenic woods of Maine"

At 9am Campers will gather at our Danville NH office for check-in and camper orientation, the starting point for an unforgettable journey. Setting our direction northward along the stunning downeast Maine coast, the initial leg of our experience can feel like the most challenging due to its length. However, we ensure plenty of stops along the way for bathroom breaks, snacks, and spirited games such as soccer, football, wiffle ball, and classic camp favorites. These breaks not only invigorate us but also foster connections among our fellow adventurers. By late afternoon, campers eagerly embrace their first opportunity to tackle the dirt trails, biking from route 9 to our inaugural campsite set beside the tranquil Second Machias Lake. Throughout the biking segments, vehicles trail behind, carrying essential gear, supplies, and safety equipment, ensuring our comfort and security. Covering approximately 12 miles, this stretch serves as an ideal introduction, offering a gentle yet invigorating start to our week-long expedition. Our attentive staff use this time to gauge skill levels, ensuring tailored support for the days ahead. As dusk descends, the group gathers lakeside, immersing themselves in the serene beauty of the Maine woods. With swimming and campfire activities, we relish our first sunset together, marking the beginning of countless unforgettable moment

Day 2: "Taster Trails Expedition"

Prior to embarking on each biking segment, campers come together for a group warm-up session while staff meticulously review safety protocols for the day's adventure. Our journey begins as we traverse the scenic route from Second Machias Lake to Grand Lake Stream, where a well-deserved lunch break awaits alongside a refreshing swim. Covering approximately 12 miles, this leg of our expedition promises exhilarating trails and a chance to test our legs. Recharged and invigorated after lunch, campers resume their adventure, pedaling onward to the picturesque Dobsis Dam campsite on Sysladobsis Lake. Another 12 miles of riding lead us to this renowned destination, celebrated for its inviting swim hole and awe-inspiring vistas. While all our campsites boast natural beauty, the allure of Dobsis Dam is undeniably special to us. Upon arrival, campers indulge in a revitalizing swim, seize moments of well-deserved rest, and partake in spirited camp games amidst the stunning surroundings. As evening descends, the campfire becomes the focal point of our gathering, where stories are shared, laughter rings out, and perhaps music from our staff’s guitars fill the air, creating cherished memories under the starlit sky

Days 3 - 5

Day 3: "Hawaiian Shirt Day Extravaganza"

(It's a Celebration, Rain or Shine) Curious minds often inquire about the secret to conquering all those miles. Our answer? We infuse every moment with fun and camaraderie, turning the journey into an unforgettable adventure that we tackle together, one pedal at a time. And when we reach the finish line, we revel in our shared accomplishment. On this special day, campers gear up for a thrilling mountain biking expedition spanning approximately 18 miles, punctuated by well-deserved rest stops along the way. Our destination: the serene Unknown Lakes, where a late lunch beckons, accompanied by the inviting waters for a refreshing swim. Post-lunch entertainment kicks off with the uproarious staff mud surfing competition, a spectacle guaranteed to elicit laughter and cheers from all. Energized by the merriment, campers hop back on their bikes for another 12-mile stretch, leading us to the idyllic Lake Gasabias campsites. As twilight falls, the enchanting glow of the campfire sets the stage for an evening of relaxation and bonding. Campers gather around to swim, swap stories, and bask in the warmth of newfound friendships, making memories that will last a lifetime. And remember, on "Hawaiian Shirt Day," the party never stops, regardless of the forecast

Day 4: "Beachbound Adventure: Journey to Rocky Pond"

Prepare for our most exhilarating biking day yet! As the sun rises, campers eagerly gear up for an early start, ready to conquer the longest stretch of our journey. With 45 miles ahead, daunting as it may seem, we know the key to success lies in unity and determination. Midway through the ride, spirits remain high as campers engage in a lively "power up" session, refueling both body and soul to tackle the miles ahead. En route to our lunch spot at the scenic Alligator Lake, anticipation builds for a refreshing cool-down swim, providing a welcome respite from the day's exertions. After replenishing our energy, it's onward to our final campsite nestled along the pristine shores of Rocky Pond. Here, campers will revel in the rare privilege of camping on a private beach exclusive to Adventurelore. As evening descends, the enchanting beauty of Rocky Pond casts a spell upon us, serving as a fitting backdrop for celebration and reflection. With the bulk of our journey behind us, excitement fills the air as campers embrace their remarkable accomplishment. The shoreline beckons, offering endless opportunities for swimming and water play, with the occasional impromptu water kickball game adding to the festivities. As darkness falls, we gather one last time around the campfire, where laughter rings out and memories are forged, sealing our shared journey with bonds that will endure long after the embers fade

Day 5: "Rocky Pond Revelry & The Grand Finale of Biking"

As the sun rises on our final day of biking, campers kick-start the morning with a wheelie contest, where laughter is abundant and everyone revels in the joy of friendly competition. With a little extra time to spare at Rocky Pond, campers eagerly embrace every moment, making the most of this idyllic setting before embarking on the last leg of our journey. With just 22 miles remaining until we reach our beloved Franklin Farm basecamp in Maine, anticipation mounts. Pedaling through the picturesque trails and dirt roads, campers savor their last 12 miles en route to a well-deserved lunch stop at Stone Dam on Stone Dam Rd. Here, amidst the tranquil waters, they engage in fun challenges and relish a final opportunity to cool off with a swim. Post-lunch, the last 10 miles beckon, offering campers their first taste of the swift tar roads. Guided by our vigilant staff and supported by accompanying vehicles, safety remains our top priority as we approach our journey's end. Arriving at Franklin Farm, cheers erupt as campers celebrate their collective triumph, each one a testament to their perseverance and resilience. Depending on the chosen routes, they've covered between 120-140 miles, a remarkable feat achieved through unity and determination. At Franklin Farm, tents are pitched for the final nights, providing a comforting haven for relaxation and reflection. Our open fields become a playground for games like capture the flag, football, and soccer, fostering camaraderie and laughter among friends. Inside the welcoming embrace of Franklin Farm Barn, campers gather for card games, barn volleyball, and more, creating lasting memories in this cherished communal space, akin to their newfound living room

Days 6 - 8

Day 6: "Festivity Extravaganza: Whitewater Thrills and George's Pond Delights"

As the sun casts its warm glow upon our camp, campers enjoy a leisurely late wake-up call, followed by a hearty breakfast feast featuring an array of delicious options including pancakes, eggs, bacon, French toast, and more. Morning activities offer a plethora of choices, from outdoor games in the expansive field to leisurely exploration of the grounds, or perhaps spirited games inside the charming barn. In the afternoon, campers face an exciting decision: embark on a thrilling whitewater adventure along the Union River via canoe or kayak, or opt for a more serene outing to the tranquil waters of George's Pond. Here, swimming, canoeing, and kayaking abound, with the added thrill of a daring leap from the renowned George's Pond Diving Board. As the day transitions into evening, anticipation builds for the highlight of our celebration: the annual Barn Volleyball Tournament! This spirited event sees mixed teams of staff and campers vying for victory amidst cheers and laughter, creating memories to cherish for years to come

Day 7:  "Adventure in Acadia: Exploring Nature's Wonders"

Following a hearty breakfast, campers eagerly prepare their day packs for an unforgettable journey into the breathtaking landscapes of Acadia National Park. Options abound as campers embrace the opportunity to partake in exhilarating rock climbing or rappelling adventures. For those seeking a different thrill, bouldering along the stunning ocean coast offers a unique challenge, while the Beehive Trail beckons with its short yet rewarding hike boasting unparalleled vistas. As the day unfolds, campers immerse themselves in the awe-inspiring beauty of Acadia, forging memories against the backdrop of nature's grandeur. Come evening, the charm of Bar Harbor awaits, offering a delightful blend of tourist attractions and coastal ambiance. Here, campers can peruse quaint shops for souvenirs, indulge in delectable snacks, and take a moment to reconnect with loved ones through phone calls home, ensuring cherished moments are shared even from afar.

Day 8: "Closing Reflections & Farewells"

As the sun begins to rise, campers stir from their slumber to embark on the bittersweet task of packing up their belongings. Before bidding farewell to the beloved barn that has been their home away from home, they gather for one final group session, reflecting on the countless achievements and cherished memories forged throughout the week. As the journey homeward unfolds, laughter and camaraderie fill the air as campers pause intermittently to snack, enjoy a leisurely lunch, and engage in spirited games, savoring the last moments of their adventure together. Arriving back at our office in Danville NH at 3pm, emotions run high as campers and staff exchange heartfelt goodbyes. Amidst hugs and well wishes, campers have the opportunity to swap contact information, cementing the bonds forged during their time together. Meanwhile, staff meet with parents to provide insights and reflections on their child's camp experience, ensuring a smooth transition back to home sweet home.
